This spring the Second Century Seminar –also known as the Seminar on the Development of Early Catholic Christianity– will host two meetings at the University of Dallas. This seminar is one of the longest-running regional patristic seminars in the country and always filled with spirited and collegial debates among faculty from academic institutions and seminaries throughout the greater DFW metroplex.
The first meeting will take place on Thursday, February 8 and the second on Thursday, April 12, so if you are in the DFW area, please mark your calendars and plan accordingly.
For those unfamiliar with the seminar, the evening typically begins at 5:00 pm with a special lecture engaging a topic on the life and thought of the early Christian world. A formal response follows the paper and those in the audience submit questions to discuss after dinner.
Dinner is served at a cost of $12 (cash or check payable to the University of Dallas) to cover food and reservation expenses. The evening concludes with a general discussion of the paper among all participants.
As always, a group from SWBTS will attend the seminar. We will plan to meet at 4:00 pm in front of the rotunda and carpool to UD together.
